  • Is it safe to use lip liner as an eye shadow?

    There’s a social media trend encouraging people to use lip liner as an eye shadow. Is this safe?


    Answer:

    You have to be careful doing this, as bacteria from the mouth can transfer to the eye area and lead to eye irritation and infections.

    I recommend only using eyeliner around the eyes, but if you want to try this, follow these tips to prevent infection. First, clean the tip of the lip liner pencil very well with an alcohol-based cleanser to prevent contamination. Then sharpen the pencil to create a fresh tip that hasn’t been used around your mouth.
