• Blepharitis Treatment

    Question:

I’ve been advised to treat my blepharitis (swelling of the eyelids caused by clogged oil glands)using antibacterial shampoo. Where can l find it and what is it called?

    Answer:

The best way to do blepharitis lid scrubs is with individual wipes designed specifically for this purpose. There are several different brands that you can use. They are all similar. A less expensive way to do this is to dilute baby shampoo about one to five with warm water and use clean cotton balls and this mixture to scrub the eyelid margins. Removing the crusting at the eyelid margins and at the bases of the lashes by scrubbing with a soap that is non-irritating is more important than the antibacterial effect of the soap.
