Question:
My 21-month-old had a probing surgery for her clogged tear duct. Three days after the surgery the tearing and the yellow discharge started to go away. Now, 12 days later, I saw a little bit of yellow discharge a couple of times with a bit of a teary eye. Is this a bad sign that her tear duct could get clogged again?
Answer:
The tear duct can clog again. Please be sure to massage the discharge from the eye and discuss the use of an antibiotic drop with your ophthalmologist. If the tear duct does close again, repeat surgery with silicone tube placement may be needed.
