Will sun exposure worsen bacterial pink eye?
JUN 27, 2020
Question:
My 2-year-old has bacterial pink eye in one eye and is on eye drops for it. Will time outdoors on a hot sunny day make it worse?
Answer:
Your child might be a little more light-sensitive, but being outside will not worsen the infection or cause any problems. Be sure to use the drops for the period of time recommended by your eye doctor. If it is truly viral pink eye, remember that the infection can be spread to others. If it is bacterial pink eye, then the risk of spreading the infection is lower.
