Coats' disease is a disease of the retinal blood vessels which can be quite variable in its effect on vision. It may present in early childhood but typically occurs later in life. It usually only affects one eye. Many patients with Coats' disease have minimal visual problems, but in some individuals it can cause severe retinal damage leading to blindness.
