Category III Code Performed During Global Period
Our practice has received a local insurance denial for corneal cross-linking procedures billed out as 0402T-58 when they are performed during the post-operative period of an Intacs procedure. Should we use a different modifier in these cases?
Answer:
It is not appropriate to append surgical modifiers to any Category III or T codes. Only bill 0402T with the appropriate laterality.
