    Intravitreal Injection and a Vitreous Tap

    If we are billing an intravitreal injection (CPT code 67028) for endophthalmitis antibiotics and doing a vitreous tap (CPT code 67015), are those okay to unbundle?

    Answer:
    CPT code 67015 is bundled with 67028 per National Correct Coding Initiative (CCI) edits. It would only be appropriate to unbundle if performed on a separate structure (the fellow eye). Based on a higher relative value units (RVU) value, just bill the vitreous tap with CPT code 67015.
