Question:
Are pink eye and conjunctivitis the same thing?
Answer:
There is substantial overlap. Pink eye is a contagious (very easily passed from one person to another) form of conjunctivitis, most often caused by viruses but also caused in some cases by bacteria. The most important form of non-contagious conjunctivitis is allergic, usually with symptoms of mild redness, itchiness, but no discharge.
