  • Can I have prism correction built into my contact lenses?

    Question:

I have double vision and now wear prescription eyeglasses with prism correction. They have helped tremendously, but can my prism correction be made into contact lenses?

    Answer:

Unfortunately, in nearly all situations the prism cannot be built into contact lenses. There are some unique situations where a very small amount of vertical misalignment can be addressed with contact lenses. But in most cases, the only option to allow an individual to start wearing contacts again is to have strabismus surgery.
