Question:
Is there any procedure to repair a torn iris?
Answer:
In some cases, it is possible to sew up a torn iris under an operating microscope using a very fine suture material ( i.e., thread.). However, in many cases it is not advisable because the repair procedure may damage the cornea and/or the lens of the eye. An ophthalmologist can make the evaluation of the iris tear by using a slit lamp biomicroscope in his/her office.
