Is it bad to not wear my glasses all of the time for my nearsightedness?
OCT 04, 2016
Question:
I have glasses and they have a high prescription. Nobody in my family used glasses or ever used them. Because I don't feel comfortable, I take them off for a long time, and walk without glasses. Is this bad for my myopia?
Answer:
The underlying assumption here is that either not wearing needed glasses, or wearing them all of the time, will somehow affect your myopia (nearsightedness). In fact, the eyes will do the best they can whether or not you wear eyeglasses. Your underlying myopia will neither improve nor degrade with the practice of removing the glasses for whatever your personal reasons. Not wearing needed eyeglasses only means that you will not see as clearly as you might while wearing the eyeglasses.
