Scar tissue such as epiretinal membrane, or macular pucker, on the retina requires vitrectomy membrane dissection surgery. If there is scar tissue with a retinal detachment (when the light sensitive tissue peels away from the back of the eye) then a more involved vitrectomy surgery is needed.
