Should I wear a monovision contact in my near eye with no correction?
SEP 24, 2020
Question:
My eye doctor prescribed monovision contacts. I do have astigmatism in both eyes and my near eye prescription is 0 power. It is my understanding that 0 power is no correction. Is there any reason I should bother to wear a contact in my near eye?
Answer:
Astigmatism correction can be more useful at distance than near. Most likely you would be able to do monovision without wearing a contact at all in the near vision eye (usually the left eye). Have your doctor give you a sample for that eye, and you can try it both ways to determine which gives you more comfortable/clear near vision.
