Question:
What is the risk of having Eylea eye injections for macular degeneration? Is it normal to see flashing lights constantly with this condition?
Answer:
Eylea is highly effective in stopping progression of wet macular degeneration and also can result in visual improvement in a significant number of patients. As with all intraocular injections, there is a small risk of infection and hemorrhage.
Flashing lights can be seen in macular degeneration, although it is not common. You should discuss this with your ophthalmologist who is doing the injections.
