• Will my vertigo get worse during my dilated eye exam?

Will my vertigo (dizziness, lightheadedness usually caused by a problem inside the ear) get worse if I have my eyes dilated during an exam?

Dilation of the eyes is not associated with vertigo. However, in order to completely examine your eyes it may be necessary for the ophthalmologist to tilt you back in the examination chair or ask you to look in different directions. If there is a positional component to your vertigo, you should tell the doctor prior to the examination.
