Billing for Testing Performed by Referring Office
Can I bill for the interpretation only of an OCT that was performed and billed a week prior by the referring optometrist?
Answer:
No. You are not able to bill for the professional component of the OCT when it has already been paid to another provider. You can document and include a review of the results of an external test in the data component of an evaluation and management (E/M) medical decision-making.
