Commercial Denial for Fluorescein Angiography
Question: The commercial plan refused to pay CPT code 92235 Fluorescein angiography without any modifier. We are concerned that if we add -RT or -LT or modifier -50 for bilateral performance, the payer can come back later and recoup the payment
Answer: Until the payer updates its system, submit either -RT or -LT, instead of modifier -50. The payment should be correct since you are only billing for one eye.
