  • How to Handle Audit Requests


    Practices should have a point person for compliance issues, including receipt of audit inquiries. The compliance officer, billing manager or administrator often holds this role. Educate all staff to alert the designated person of audit requests. Requests for records, such as Comprehensive Error Rate Testing (CERT) review requests, arrive via mail and are date-stamped and time-sensitive. Hand deliver audit requests; don’t simply place them in an inbox or mailbox. If the designated person for compliance issues is unavailable, notify the person by email to ensure he or she is aware of the audit request.
