Intrastromal Injection CPT Code (including MICE)

Question: Our doctor performed an intrastromal corneal injection. Would CPT code 66030 Injection, anterior chamber of eye (separate procedure) medication be appropriate?
Answer: Intrastromal injections (ex. Mitomycin Intravascular Chemoembolization – MICE) should be billed as the unlisted code 66999. Include language in box 19 on your claim detailing the service performed.
