New Law Changes Medicare Opt-Out Process for Physicians
Passage of the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015 has changed the process for opting out of Medicare. Under the new law, physicians who choose to opt out of Medicare will be automatically re-enrolled every two years.
The change applies to all opt-out affidavits filed on or after June 16, 2015.
To change your status, contact your Medicare Administrative Contractor in writing no less than 30 days before the start of the next two-year period.
