What you need to know prior to an audit situation.
Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs) and the Zone Program Integrity Contractors (ZPICs) are performing pre-payment reviews through additional documentation requests (ADR) on claims. As stated per the latest MLN article MM8583, the physician has only forty-five days to reply. Failure to respond in the timeframe will result in the claim being denied. There will be no extension allowing additional time to comply.
