  • Single-Use Vial Used Bilaterally

Can a single-use vial be administered bilaterally to the same patient? Specifically, Triesence? If so, would correct billing be as follows:

    67028 -50

J3300 8 units (administering 4 ml on each eye)

J3300 -JW (discarding 32 of same bottle)

    Answer:

A single-use vial should only be used for one eye and not split between eyes or used on another patient. You would bill each eye out individually with the appropriate eye modifier and wastage.
