    Question: When do we assign a stage to glaucoma: only upon visual field performance?

    Answer: Yes. You use the visual field to determine staging. The last page of the Glaucoma Quick Reference Guide includes this language:

    Indeterminate stage ICD-10 7th digit “4”:

    • Visual fields not performed yet;
    • Patient incapable of visual field testing;
    • Unreliable/uninterpretable visual field testing.
