  • Academy Statement on Ukraine

The Academy expresses deep concern for ophthalmologists, their patients, and people across Ukraine. The attack has put their lives and safety at risk and disrupted the delivery of ophthalmic and medical care. The Academy has reached out to its Ukrainian members and colleagues through the Ukrainian Society of Ophthalmologists and the Ukrainian Alliance of Ophthalmologists to convey the Academy’s support.

Those living and working in conflict zones are at risk of devastating eye injuries, including blindness, and the Academy with the American Society of Ophthalmic Trauma is sharing a first aid guide for eye trauma that can be accessed through multiple sources including the Academy’s newly published “First Aid for a Common Target of Wartime Injury: The Eye.”

The Academy stands in support of our Ukrainian members and the people for whom they care.
