Question:
Can a 58-year-old woman with 161.4 glucose and atheromatous aorta still undergo cataract laser operation?
Answer:
I am not sure what that glucose measurement is. However, diabetes (a disease in which blood sugar levels are too high) and atherosclerosis (plaque build-up in arteries) are very common in patients having cataract surgery. Generally the surgery can be done if these problems are well controlled in advance. If blood pressure and blood sugar are stable and treated and there are no other medical problems that are uncontrolled, then cataract surgery can be performed.
