  • Is Being At High Altitude OK After Cataract Surgery?

    Question:

I live at high altitude, 8,500 feet. Do I need to do anything differently after cataract surgery like staying at a lower altitude for 1-2 days afterward for better healing and to avoid pressure changes?

    Answer:

After cataract surgery, you will be fine staying where you are now, at 8,500 feet. Altitude will not have any affect on the results of your cataract surgery. There are however certain types of retina surgeries that prevent you from flying at high altitudes or staying in places of high altitude. Please ask your ophthalmologist.
