  • How can I help my droopy, bruised eyelid heal after an injury?

    Question:

I was poked with a finger very hard into my left eyelid 48 hours ago and now my eyelid is swollen, bruised and drooping very low. How long before it goes back to normal and what can I do assist the healing process?

    Answer:

It would be helpful to see an ophthalmologist who can check to see if you bruised your eyeball as well as the eyelid. A blunt injury of the eyeball can cause inflammation, cataract, glaucoma and retinal detachment so is important to have a good eye exam. The ophthalmologist can also make sure you do not have an eyelid infection that needs treatment.
