  • Why do I need so much laser treatment after my vitrectomy?

    Question:

I had my vitrectomy eye surgery three months ago. Then I had laser three times in three months. Yesterday the doctor advised laser again. Why he is doing laser treatment so much? Is it a normal procedure?

    Answer:

Without knowing the particular status of your retinal condition, it is not possible for us to give you a definitive explanation of why you are having multiple laser procedures. It is most likely that the laser is being performed either to treat newly identified tears in the retina, or to strengthen a barrier to prevent retinal detachment.
