  • Why don't my multifocal contacts work for driving?

    Question:
I’m trying multifocal contacts that allow me to drive and do close work comfortably. I can see great almost everywhere except driving. Why would they be perfect for seeing at a distance while walking on the beach, for example, but not driving?

    Answer:
These lenses can be affected by lighting conditions. Darker or lighter conditions outside can impact how well you see with these lenses.

Sometimes the power of the lenses can be adjusted to improve your function in these situations. You need to discuss this problem with the prescribing doctor.
