Will DMSO for arthritis harm my IOL?

Question:
I use DMSO for arthritis and I need cataract surgery. Will DMSO harm the implant?
Answer:
DMSO, a cream that is applied to the skin, helps treat arthritis and is also used to help the body absorb other medications. It will have little effect on the eye once it enters your body and no effect on cataract removal surgery or your intraocular lens (the implant). If DMSO helps your arthritis, carry on.
