Soheil Daftarian, MD, a 2015 Academy advocacy ambassador, waited more than nine hours to testify before the Texas state senate April 29 against a bill that would expand optometrists' scope of practice. The senate Committee on Health and Human Services heard his testimony as part of its consideration of Senate Bill 577.
Through the Advocacy Ambassador Program, the Academy works with societies and training programs to send residents and fellows to the Mid-Year Forum. Dr. Daftarian was sponsored by Texas Ophthalmological Association.
