In this presentation from Glaucoma Subspecialty Day 2022, Dr. Angelo Tanna reviews methods of evaluating serial visual fields for glaucoma progression. Accurate and timely detection of visual field progression is important for managing glaucoma because treatment decisions, including the decision to advance to incisional surgery, are often based on evidence of functional progression. However, detecting visual field progression is complicated by variability and fluctuation in the measurement of threshold sensitivity. In his talk, Dr. Tanna focuses on event-based and trend-based analysis, including the use of Guided Progression Analysis software (Carl Zeiss Meditec) and the visual field index.
