    AAO 2023 Video Program
    Cataract/Anterior Segment, IOLs and Implantation

There has been strong evidence in the peer-reviewed literature, especially regarding in vivo preclinical studies, that IOLs keeping the capsular bag open and expanded have improved bag clarity postoperatively. This concept is described in this video and illustrated through surgical videoclips, slit-lamp photographs and histopathological evaluation. Hypotheses on the reasons for clear capsular bags with these lenses are also advanced, including flux of aqueous humor within the bag with these specific lens designs.
