Led by Dr. Peter Quiros at AAO 2022, this course discusses how LGBTQ+ identity is relevant to practicing ophthalmologists. The course instructors define key concepts regarding gender identity and sexual orientation, provide strategies for minimizing health disparities among LGBTQ+ patients, discuss how to create an inclusive work environment for all patients, health care professionals, and office staff, and explain how to engage with the LGBTQ+ community as an ally.
