Ongoing Eye Care
Patients having vision rehabilitation should continue to see their ophthalmologist and to be monitored, including screening for glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, or refractive changes. Treatment for disorders such as cataract and AMD should still be considered for patients with limited visual potential, even though normal or near-normal visual acuity may not be a potential outcome. The difference between 20/200 and 20/400 vision may substantially reduce the magnification required for reading and enhance the effectiveness of visual rehabilitation techniques.
