Prevention of Slippage in Yamane Technique With a PMMA Haptic 3-Piece IOL

In the Yamane technique, the optimal size and shape of tip haptics is crucial. Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) haptics cannot be properly flanged, and thus slippage of the IOL can develop. To prevent future slippage, PMMA haptics can be shaped as tackheads with the help of tying forceps. In this video, Drs. Huseyin Oksuz and Serhat Imamoglu present a case of a dropped PMMA haptic IOL and demonstrate IOL implantation with this modified Yamane technique.
