Tenon Patch to Treat Scleral Defects

Drs. Fernando González del Valle and colleagues present a new surgical approach to treat a scleral defect. An autologous tenon patch associated with a pars plana vitrectomy can be a good option to treat acute post-traumatic perforation of the posterior pole or chronic scleral defects, such as an equatorial perforation in a scleral buckle surgery. In both cases, this new surgical maneuver can prevent the leakage of vitreous through the scleral defect.
