How Do I Tell Which Is My Dominant Eye?
OCT 12, 2014
Question:
I cannot tell which is my dominant eye because a cataract covers my right eye. Therefore, I am seeing only with the left eye. I want monovision for my cataract surgery. How can I be sure of the dominant eye?
Answer:
Depending on the density of the cataract, you might not be able to confirm your dominant eye at this point in time. Assuming you have some vision, your doctor has many different tests to help determine which eye is your dominant eye. If I explain some of them to you in advance, it could corrupt some of the tests your ophthalmologist might use. You might be able to help if you can recall which eye you use to shoot a rifle or look through a camera's view finder as that would be your dominant eye.
