$700 Million Price Tag Thwarts Last-Minute Effort to Block CMS Elimination of Global Surgery Payments

Despite quick efforts by medicine to block the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services from eliminating global surgery payments, the push fell short when Congress passed its 2015 appropriations last week. The Congressional Budget Office produced a bizarre, 11th hour cost estimate that ruined any effort to protect global surgery payments.
