CMS Claims Global Surgical Codes Systemically Overvalued and Hinder Alternative Payment Models

As reported in last week, one of the main proposals of the 2015 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule is the elimination of 10- and 90-day global surgical periods. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services believes that post-operative visits, as they are currently built into the surgical codes, are overpaid in a number of ways.
