In this interview from the 2013 American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery Annual Meeting, Dr. Elizabeth Yeu discusses a recent survey designed to gauge how prepared young ophthalmologists believe they are to handle common complications and basic techniques in cataract and refractive surgery. The survey found that while most residency programs cover the minimum volume requirements, a majority of recent graduates thought they were poorly prepared to manage critical scenarios, including management of posterior capsular ruptures and surgically addressing refractive errors in concert with cataract surgery.
