Tips for Getting Started with miLOOP

In this 1-Minute Video, Dr. Leela Raju demonstrates how to use a miLOOP lens fragmentation device (Zeiss) to manage a dense, black lens. After making a small incision, she stains the capsule and performs hydrodissection. Keeping the black mark at the main wound, she tilts the loop down to reach under the capsulorhexis. Using a second instrument can help keep the pieces within the capsular bag. If the cataract is divided again, she recommends underrotating the lens to ensure the 4 fragments are of similar size.
