Preloaded foldable hydrophobic IOLs are widely used in cataract surgery. This video analyzes unfolding characteristics of preloaded IOL systems in vivo as well as in vitro including autopsy eyes using the Miyake-Apple technique and a new side-view capsular bag extension technique. Analysis of the preloaded systems from AMO, Alcon, and Zeiss and Hoya clinical and laboratory data will be presented.
