A resident shares the experience of her tutor during surgery of an ectopia lentis in a child. The main goal was to implant and suture to the sclera an Ahmed segment associated with a capsular tension ring. Several intraoperative difficulties occurred, some of them due to the lack of backup material. Alternative techniques, such as haptic amputation of the posterior IOL, are also illustrated.
