    Pinhole IOLs for Irregular Corneas

    AAO 2016
Cataract/Anterior Segment, Comprehensive Ophthalmology, IOLs and Implantation

IIn this presentation from AAO 2016, Matteo Piovella, MD, discusses the  KAMRA, an inlay ring with a pinhole in the center, within the iC8 IOLs, allowing light to enter the eye.  It is implanted using standard surgical technique. One eye is implanted and the other eye is left untouched. In combination, the eyes allow a patient to see near to far.  He believes that this trifocal technology implant addresses 83% of cataract patients presenting with astigmatism without additonal incisional procedure or axis alignment.

This presentation was co-sponsored by the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS).
