Cataract/Anterior Segment, Refractive Mgmt/Intervention
In this video we describe the fundamentals of a new accommodative IOL based on the induction of surface curvature changes of the lens by active ciliary body contraction. The IOL is implanted at the sulcus and may have an accommodative range of up to 40 D according to an experimental animal model pilot study. We show here the results of the experimental study and the outcomes obtained in the first human pilot study on 10 patients, in which the lens demonstrated an accommodative amplitude from 4.7 to 15.7 D.
