A “lost” rectus muscle is a severe complication of strabismus or sinus surgery, and is commonly believed to be irretrievable. This video demonstrates a technique for retrieving a slipped medial rectus muscle via an extraconal approach, which offers straightforward visualization of the muscle in the posterior orbit.
