    The Artificial Iris Overfolding Technique

Dr. Mike Snyder shows 3 cases of his overfolding technique, used to place an iris prosthesis through a small capsular opening. In each procedure, a custom iris prosthesis is folded into an injection cartridge and inserted under the nasal capsular leaflet. The prosthesis may be partially unfolded, but because its diameter is larger than the capsulorhexis, the trailing temporal edge of the implant remains in front of the capsular margin. Dr. Snyder uses microforceps and a hook to grasp the temporal area of the artificial iris and overfold it onto itself by roughly 2 clock hours. This makes the perimeter small enough that it may be tucked under the temporal capsulorhexis margin, where it will spontaneously unfold completely.
