Dr. Thomas Oetting demonstrates his iris hook technique, which he finds especially useful in patients with small pupils and posterior synechiae. He begins by marking the 4 incision sites for the hooks in a diamond configuration. After making small incisions using a paracentesis blade, he uses the hooks without viscoelastic to lyse the posterior synechiae, providing both exposure and lysis of the posterior synechiae. To remove the hooks, he simply rotates it clear of the iris and pulls it out.
