In this surgical video, Dr. Elizabeth Yeu demonstrates needle decompression of a white cataract. Instead of a cystotome needle, she uses a 27- or 30-gauge needle to pierce the anterior capsule; this helps mitigate risk of the Argentinian flag sign. Since capsulorhexis formation can be challenging, it is important to perform each step slowly and aspirate the plumes of cortex.
